The food at Mi Cocina, Mi Pais has just enough in common with other Latin American cuisines to be accessible: moist tamales, kicky salsa made from a South American chile called aji, and tasty two-layered flan de coco. But if you visit this cheerful little Ecuadorean restaurant — which also serves specialties from Colombia and Peru — you’ll thank yourself for trying something different, like the sango de camarones, with plump shrimp and plantains in a savory, nutty sauce. The portions are huge, and the prices are anything but.
