Another Major change is the Camry is now available as a Hybrid. The Hybrid Synergy drive coupled to the gas motor produces almost 200 h.p. and amazing mileage. I have yet to drive the hybrid Camry but I have driven the Lexus GS 450 h Hybrid which is the nicest on the market. If the drive on the Camry is anything like the Lexus you will have plenty of power and seamless transitions from gas to electric with plenty of get-up and go. The non-hybrid models come in a variety of trim models from the base model up to the XLE model which is equipped with just about everything. The base model is equipped with a 158 h.p. 4 cylinder model while the XLE, LE and SE models have a 268 h.p. V6. The 4 cylinder comes with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic. The V6 is coupled to a newly designed 6-speed automatic that shifts sequentially and produces terrific gear ranges and increases mileage and performance from the 5-speed automatic.
Inside the Camry is roomier than ever due to the increased wheel base, width and forward sloping of the lower windshield. The interior in the XLE was full of nice upgrades such as wood trim, redesigned door panels and touch-screen navigation and information screen. The seats are comfy and the back has more than ample legroom. Interior noise is again terrific in this years remake and the ride and drivability is excellent. With a fresh look and some upgrades on some of the standard feature its no wonder why this car has sold over 10 million and will continue to be the sedan that all others aim at.
