How does a British girl of average attractiveness (whose first single was a White Stripes cover, by the way) rise to international fame? For then-16-year-old Joss Stone, worshiping Aretha Franklin and belting out soulful dirges like a Whitney Houston/Mariah Carey love child may have had something to do with it. Sort of a hippie cousin to Amy Winehouse, Stone is surely one of the most successful Grammy-nominated singers to regularly perform sans footwear. You won’t want to miss the chance to hear Stone’s sultry vocals -- and maybe even smell her feet -- at Celebrity Theatre.
