Warren Miller's Playground

Published on November 29, 2007

Eat my powder. That's the mantra of filmmaker Miller, whose extreme-sports flicks capture extreme-sports fanatics in various states of extremity. This time around, Miller hops around the globe to various deep-powder destinations -- including the highly unlikely Arabian Desert locale named Ski Dubai -- to bring us desert dwellers a breath of ice-cold fresh air. Among Playground's highlights are segments about skiing's bad boy, Bode Miller, and the young snowboarding crew known as the Burton Smalls Team. The soundtrack includes appropriately shredding tunes by the likes of Maroon 5, Queens of the Stone Age, and the Beastie Boys, and anyone who attends the screening receives a free lift ticket to Flagstaff's Arizona Snowbowl.
