Watergate journalist takes on America's Iron Lady

Published on November 08, 2007

Hillary Rodham Clinton is pilloried regularly by dittoheads and the endlessly fulminating drones on Fox News, but the vast left-wing conspiracy has pretty much represented her with hand jobs and puff pieces. Until now.

Carl Bernstein, the Pulitzer Prize winner and former Washington Post reporter who worked with Bob Woodward to expose Watergate, has been ruffling feathers right and left (mostly left) with his unauthorized bio A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton. Bernstein's central thesis is that Senator Clinton is "inauthentic" and that she has developed an overly rigid persona in order to advance politically. Bernstein describes the book as revealing "the true Hillary Clinton," with a picture emerging of a tenacious politician who doesn’t speak softly and definitely carries a big stick.
